However, when link building on Wikipedia, you should stick to a few important rules:
- Create content that deserves a link from Wikipedia.
- Never try to get too greedy with Wikipedia links (this will ruin your account credibility).
Keep in mind that you don’t have to have a Wikipedia profile for link placement. Instead, you need linkable content that provides value, and that deserves to be there.
Trending Content Links
One of the most powerful driving forces of linkable content is trends. Creating content about a trending topic is bound to get backlinks. This is especially the case if you use some type of outreach, as well. Something that was discovered during the COVID pandemic is that every journalist and blogger is interested in original tips, ideas, and research on old topics.
Keep in mind, though, that not all trends are considered linkable. You can’t always accurately predict if a trending topic will successfully generate links or if a certain type of content is going to work. It’s important to note that forum link building is considered spamming. However, this isn’t the spamming technique. Rather than registering a new account on a popular discussion board or forum and add a link, answer popular questions on your business website. When you do this, forum users will start to link to your content when they make a reply on these sites.
