Comment spam refers to automatically-posted comments that are only written to so that they can put a link back to the spammer’s own site in the comments section (this would artificially enhance the spammer’s page ranking, but not the ranking of the site where the spam comment was posted). The comment normally takes the form of generic, irrelevant, or copied comment with a link back to the commenter’s site.
