Blogger is a service that allows user to publish blogs that are generally hosted on a site at a subdomain of blogspot.com. The service was started in 1999 by Pyra Labs but was bought by Google in 2003. Blogs using Blogger are very popular and the blogspot.com domain is one of the top sites on the web. It was ranked 11th  by Alexa in April 2013.

Price:
It is free to host a blog on Blogger.com. Free hosting is beneficial to Google, the service’s owner, because the more people using Blogger, the greater the potential reach of the Google AdWords network.

Advantages:
There are many features that make Blogger a good choice for people looking to setup a simple blog. The service has multiple designs to choose from and the sites are easy to integrate with other Google services like Google Docs and Picasa. Blogger also recently created mobile device support so blog owners can edit their blogs with Android or iOS devices.

Disadvantages:
Since the service is free, there are limits to the content storage and bandwidth usage for each account. Pages are limited to 1 MB each and each blog is limited to 20 stand-alone pages. And there are additional limitations on the size of pictures, maximum storage space, and other restrictions.
