Everyone knows that guest posting is an effective way to get high quality back links to your site. This helps to boost both your credibility and visibility. Of course, it always is preferable for you to choose to guest post on a site with the highest PR possible. However, this is not always easy to do.
Most high PR sites get tons of requests to publish guest posts. These sites usually will publish only the absolute best articles, so the chances of being accepted on one of them is rather low. Also, many authoritative sites don’t even accept guest posts at all.
This means that often times you are going to be looking at guest posting on a lower PR site, which CAN be beneficial for SEO purposes in some instances. How do you know?
First, check to see how often articles are published on the site and the dates on them. You need to be sure that the site is kept up to date. If articles are not being added regularly, this probably isn’t a good site to post on. If there have been no new articles in six months, keep looking.
Second, see how easy it is for you to navigate on the site. If this site is not easy to navigate, the Google spiders aren’t going to like it much and it is not likely that the site will get a higher PR in the future.
Third, take a strong look at the content and types of articles on the site. The best blogs and sites will have very unique and desirable content on a certain topic. You want to be sure that the site is not copying content that is already published. Copy some sentences from posts to Google and see if the content exists anywhere else. Also, consider the focus of the website. The best sites tend to have a specific focus.
If you analyze a lower PR site according to the tips above, you are more likely to find sites on which it is more productive for you to guest post. These sites will be worth writing for to get good back links.
