Google is up to its old tricks yet again. It has updated its algorithm with something called Penguin, and it’s causing many website owners headaches as their page ranks are tanking.
What exactly Google intended with this update is open to question. Mostly, it appears they were trying to better quantify backlink value, and a few other things. However, this has caused some people’s links to be seen as ‘bad,’ thus causing page rank to go down.
Now Google has always said in its quality guidelines that you should not be involved in crazy linking schemes or using any sort of hidden links. However, looks like Penguin is punishing some websites for having totally legit links, too. Penguin didn’t really change any backlink rules at the Web giant. But there seems to be a more precise definition of the rules and this is causing some problems for some websites.
Fortunately, there is no need for you to have to comb through your links and figure out which are bad and which are good. There are simple ways that you can improve your rank and recover organic site traffic, and make Penguin your friend. J
How’s that, you ask? By indexing your video links so that they are not in competition with regular HTML pages for the best slots in the rankings. With good video links, you will be able to increase your page traffic and rank in as little as 24 hours. And no need to worry about that pesky penguin.
Some more handy tips in this vein to help rebuild your rank:
- Have your videos indexed straight to your Web domain. Most traffic comes through Google, but if you are competing with all those HTML pages, it will take a long time to build rank. Instead, submit a video sitemap to the search engine. Video links will be indexed fast and get top placement in most search results. If you need help in learning how to create a video site map, here you go.
- Upload videos to Youtube to get more backlinks to your Web domain. If you need to supplant offsite links that have caused your site to drop recently, adding in Youtube links can really help your site rank. So, try to post many good videos with helpful content, get subscribers and get a lot of positive feedback.
- Make good links that give your site visitors more good content to share with friends. Google loves natural links, and social sharing of links is a great way to do just that.
