So, you hear a lot of ways to make the SEO on your site rock and to get you high in the rankings. But what are the best ways to torpedo your site and wreck your SEO efforts? Here are a few ways:
- Use Google Translate for all site content. Google Translate rocks for interpreting a language back into English. What you should not do is use it for all your content. The problem is that it does not give you a sensible sentence structure much of the time. Unless you want your site to not make much sense to people who live in other parts of the world, you should not use Google Translate for the whole site.
- Not using Google Webmaster: This tool lets you do many things that will help get Google to notice you. One example is that you can turn in many different site maps that will let the search engine index the pages of your site. You even have the ability to target your site geographically. What this means is that you can allow Google to allow your site to have more priority to the geographic point of that exact Google engine.
- Using one keyword list for all Google geographic targets. This is the wrong way to go. You will need to mix it up so that you can dominate many of the geographic sites of Google. Example: You can add France as one of your keywords so that you are able to target France, too. You might be able to put France cash advances rather than just cash advances. If you are a global business, why the heck would you not want to target other countries for business?
- Putting all of your supported languages onto a single web page. If you put all of that on one page, it will be a mess. A big reason that people stay on a site is due to the page design. If the design of your site is a mess, the visitors will not stay long.
- Focusing your backlink building only on the home page. Building backlinks is a great thing if you do it right. If you are just sending all inbound links to your home page, that’s the only page on your site that will be ranked.
So, make sure you aren’t doing these five things if you want your SEO to not get completely wrecked!
